After teasing the public with its appearances in the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April 9-12, 2026 and at the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) last June 4-7, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) gave the local motoring journalists and media partners an exclusive dynamic preview of the brand’s highest-selling electric vehicle (EV) model, the all-new Geely EX2. The media preview was held on June 17, 2026 at the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan inside the Robinson’s Bridgetowne complex in Bagumbayan, Quezon City.

GMP announced that the cute Geely EX2 sold more than 50,000 units a month and outsold other vehicle models across all categories in China in 2025 and from January to May this year. The company claimed that this impressive sales achievement marks the EX2 as the best-selling pure EV in the A/B-segment around the world. GMP is confident that the EX2 will set a new benchmark for urban family mobility in the country with its smart EV performance and efficiency, compact and city-friendly outer dimensions, and interior spaciousness and adaptability.
Smart EV Performance + RWD Dynamics = Proven Agility
The all-new Geely EX2 breaks away from the typical front-wheel drive (FWD) configuration found in sub-compact hatchbacks by mounting the permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear. (Yes, you read that right: the EX2 has rear-wheel drive (RWD). – Ed.) With 114 horsepower (85 kilowatts) and 150 Newton-meters of torque on tap, this RWD configuration is paired with front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link independent suspension that GMP claims to provide the EX2 with efficient performance, unparalleled balance, and driving comfort.

GMP Product Manager Peter An showed a short video of the EX2 exceling in the “Moose Test” emergency maneuvers.
GMP Product Manager Peter An pointed out that the EX2 can accelerate from 0-50 km/h in 4.6 seconds, hit 0-100 km/h in 11.5 secs, and brake from 100 km/h to a complete stop in 36.9 meters. Its makes effortless U-turns on tight streets with its 4.95-meter turning radius, and achieved 73.5 km/h during a “moose test” emergency maneuver. Its 39.4 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack offers a driving range of up to 395 kilometers on a single charge and supports DC fast charging that charges the battery from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes.

The Golden Ratio, a Smiling Face, and a “Frunk”
Built on Geely’s proprietary Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA), the EX2’s design language is guided by the 0.618 Golden Ratio, which the GMP Product Manager stated provides the EX2 with perfectly balanced body proportions and eye-pleasing aesthetics. The exterior is further highlighted by a friendly “smiling” front fascia, feather-inspired LED headlights and tail lamps, seamless body lines, and attractive wheel and tire combinations (four leaf clover-inspired 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/60R16 tires for the EX2 Max variant and 15-inch steel rims with 3-spoke wheel covers and 205/65R15 tires for the EX2 Pro variant).

The front facade seems to recall the lyrics to James Taylor’s song, “Whenever I see your smiling face, I have to smile myself…”

Designed with the ultimate utility and practicality in mind, the EX2 comes with a rear luggage compartment that can accommodate 375 dry liters (13.2 cubic feet) and expand to 1,320 liters (46.6 cu. ft.) by folding the rear seatbacks flat. Because of its RWD configuration, the EX2 features a large 70-liter (2.5 cu. ft.) “frunk” or front trunk, which is large enough to fit a 20-inch carry-on suitcase plus a backpack. The electric Geely also features 36 thoughtfully-placed cubby holes and storage compartments throughout the cabin for the occupants’ convenience.
