This remarkable feat was accomplished by the formidable #55 Team MSCC Mazda Miata race car, which not only dominated the series but also set new performance benchmarks that showcase the MX-5’s exceptional balance, reliability, and durability.

Regarded as the most challenging endurance circuit race in the Philippines, the Makabayan Cup comprises three grueling legs: the 4-hour Kagitingan Cup, the 12-hour Kalayaan Cup, and the 8-hour Bonifacio Cup. These races are hosted alternately at the Clark International Speedway and the Batangas Racing Circuit, with each event paying tribute to the historically significant dates they commemorate.

A Seven-Year Journey to Victory

The journey began modestly in 2017, when Team Mazda Miata participated in a single, one-off race. Officially entering the series in 2019, the MX-5’s racing concept evolved rapidly, leading to a string of impressive performances year after year. In 2022, the #55 of Team MSCC Mazda Miata sported an eye-catching “Imagine” livery, which later gave way to a dramatic full-carbon fiber body transformation in 2024. The culmination of these upgrades arrived in 2025, with the introduction of a quick-shifting sequential gearbox, signaling a new chapter in the car’s racing evolution.

Engineering Philosophy and Performance

Throughout its racing tenure, the #55 Mazda Miata maintained its original 184 PS, 205 Nm 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine, completely stock.
