The call for improved water management in the Philippines gained momentum as WATER PHILIPPINES held its 7th edition from March 19 to 21, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.
A biennial trade event dedicated to water and wastewater management, WATER PHILIPPINES 2025 showcased over 400 exhibitors presenting the latest innovations in water management solutions. The event welcomed over 12,000 trade visitors, who participated in more than 50 high-level conferences, seminars, and workshops over three days.
“WATER PHILIPPINES supported the Bagong Pilipinas government initiative led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who has been advocating for improved water management across the country,” said Datuk Ir. Abdul Kadir B. Mohd Din, FASc, advisor of ASIAWATER, Informa Markets, the event’s organizer. “Our goal was to contribute by showcasing cutting-edge innovations in water filtration, wastewater treatment, and best practices in managing water resources.”
The National Water Resources Board reported that approximately 11 million families in the Philippines struggled to access clean water. Given that the country had around 26.39 million families in 2020, this meant nearly half still faced challenges in securing this vital resource. Despite being an archipelagic nation with abundant water sources, the Philippines experienced extreme weather events, rapid population growth, water pollution, and infrastructural limitations, exacerbating water accessibility issues.
Recognizing these challenges, industry leaders and stakeholders prioritized sustainable solutions to enhance water management and improve infrastructure for cleaner, more accessible water.
“With the theme ‘Shaping the Future of Water Management,’ WATER PHILIPPINES 2025 served as a platform to showcase innovative solutions and facilitate knowledge-sharing that local water industry leaders and players could adopt,” added Datuk Kadir.
