The biggest motorsports event in the country prepares for another fast-paced season to kick-off this Saturday March 19th! The third season of the Vios Cup is anticipated to be the biggest in history with a total of 54 racers consisting of 45 individual teams and 9 celebrity racers. The 2016 Vios Cup also boasts an all new racing category, new participants, and possible new venues to watch out for this year!
Gearheads, motorsport fans, car enthusiasts, spectators are all in for a treat this season as Toyota adds a new race category to the line-up – the Super Sporting Class. Unlike the Sporting and Promotional Class, the Super Sporting Class is reserved for the Top 20 best racers from all categories based on overall scores from previous races. This class is intended to not only even out the playing field but also to highlight the continuously improving driving skills of the racers making a more challenging and Waku-Doki experience. Furthermore, all drivers in this new race category are B-License holders. With the addition of this new category, this 2016 Vios Cup will definitely be filled with action packed races proving that each driver from the different categories can definitely put the pedal to the metal and deliver high-octane action on the tracks!
With the amount of improving talent as seen in each season, the Vios Cup has not only become an instrument for creating better racers at a grassroots level but also attracting new ones. This season, a handful of new racers will be joining the roster for the 3 different categories: Super Sporting Class, Sporting Class, and Promotional Class. For the Super Sporting Class, B-License racer Keith Bryan Haw joins as a first time Vios Cup participant for the new category. Fans can also expect a star- studded line-up this third season as Arci Munoz, Megan Young, and Jericho Rosales join the battle for race track dominance competing in the Celebrity Promotional class with mainstays Derek Ramsey, Fabio Ide, Jinno Rufino, Joyce Pring, Sam YG, and Phoemela Baranda!
Starting this season of the Vios Cup, Toyota is not just upgrading the experience for spectators and fans but also for the racers themselves. With the goal of promoting motorsports at a grassroots level, a new set of rules have now been added in order to continuously improve the safety protocols on the race tracks.
