The Rugged Road Warrior is Reborn – 2020 Jeep Gladiator

In 1985, Jeep offered a pickup truck based on their Cherokee sport utility vehicle (SUV) called the Jeep Commanche. The tough-as-nails Jeep truck came with a choice of rear wheel (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) models and a choice of six-foot or seven-foot cargo bed lengths. The truck found a lot of enthusiastic fans and willing buyers but unfortunately, it also found itself in the middle of a corporate shake-up. It was discontinued in 1992.

Now, after nearly 30 years, Jeep revives the tough-as-nails spirit of the Commanche with the 2020 Jeep Gladiator. It combines the iconic Jeep Brand design with the capabilities of a pickup truck and the ultimate look of adventure. The Gladiator is not just a Jeep Wrangler with a truck bed – Jeep diligently engineered it from the ground up to provide real truck utility, functionality and performance. You can drive it to work on weekdays and go on extreme off-road adventures on weekends. It’ll fit your active lifestyle whether you’re into hiking, camping, biking, or trekking with its unique combination of legendary Jeep DNA and utilitarian truck capability.

Unmistakable Jeep DNA

From the front, the Gladiator is immediately recognizable as a Jeep with its iconic Seven Slotted Grille and its unique styling. Jeep Performance LED headlamps and tail lamps offer better illumination to make the Gladiator more visible while the rugged-looking Power Dome Dual Vented Hood helps remove heat from the engine compartment that houses the tried-and-tested 285-horsepower 3.6-liter Penstar V6 engine. For those who love open-air motoring, it only takes 20 minutes to remove the Freedom Top, the windshield and the aluminum doors, which the Gladiator shares with the Jeep Wrangler.

Body-colored Fenders are designed to accommodate 35-inch tires while Steel Skid Plates protect the fuel tank and transfer case when driving on rough terrain. Steel Rear Bumpers and Rock Rails, which are optional on the Gladiator Sport but standard on the Gladiator Rubicon, protect the rear of the vehicle during aggressive off-road adventures. The tough 5-Foot Truck Bed extends to 6 ½ feet when the tailgate’s open to accommodate large equipment like dirt bikes while four Integrated String Tie-Down Loops help ensure that your equipment stays in the truck bed. With a towing capacity of 3,175 kilograms (7,000 pounds), the Gladiator, even with a loaded truck bed, can tow a trailer or another vehicle. It’s really a battle-ready gladiator!

Modern Rugged Interior

The new but familiar interior of the Gladiator looks just as good as its rugged exterior. Behind the thickly-padded steering wheel is the customizable Cluster 7.0 TFT Color Display that allows you to choose the most important information to display among a plethora of data regarding the vehicle. Jeep even engineered an Easter Egg into the cluster display where a Gladiator cruises as you start the vehicle. In the middle of the dash is a large 8.4-inch Uconnect Touchscreen Display that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto, which allows you to sync your iPhone or connect your Android smartphone to integrate with the vehicle. Voice Command System allows hands-free use of the navigation function while the Alpine Premium Audio System provides high quality sound.

In case the weather suddenly turns wet when Freedom Top is detached, the rubberized frame of the infotainment system is ready to get wet, too. The Rear Compartment Storage Tray, which allows you to securely store your stuff, is located underneath the rear seats that can be folded 60/40 to get a flatbed inside the cabin. Looking at the truck bed from inside the Gladiator, you’ll notice two other Easter Eggs – “tire markings” on the truck bed to help align and center your dirt bikes plus an embedded “?419” mark represents the country code of Ohio where these pickup trucks are made.

The infotainment system and its rubber frame can handle wet situations.

Alpine Premium Audio System belts out high quality tunes.

Designed With You In Mind

Jeep equipped the new Gladiator with the latest standard and available safety and security technology for your convenience and peace of mind. The Remote Start System allows you to remotely start the vehicle using your key fob and enables you to cool the interior with the air-conditioner before you get in. Blind Spot Monitoring uses radar-based sensors that helps you detect surrounding vehicles and alerts you of a vehicle in your blind spot zone to help make lane changing a lot safer. Combined with the ParkView Rear Back-up Camera makes backing up and parking this long vehicle a lot easier. The Engine Stop-Start system conserves fuel and helps protect the environment by shutting down the engine when idling in traffic.

3.6-liter Pentastar V6 Engine churns out 352 Nm of torque and comes with an automatic Engine Start/Stop feature.

Off-Road Plus ensures that the Gladiator can go anywhere…

… while Fox Shocks suspension ensures that it can handle anything.

The Gladiator earned its Trail Rated badge by conquering the toughest terrain, withstanding harsh conditions, and delivering incredible off-road capability. Its new Off-Road Plus Mode adapts to the 4×4 settings of the vehicle by shifting the bias to either 4Hi or 4Lo configuration while the Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect allows an increased articulation of the front axle. The Tru-Lok Front and Rear Differentials locks the rear or both front and rear differentials to increasing traction on slippery surfaces while the Fox Shocks suspension ensures that the Gladiator can handle anything. The Selec-Speed Control is basically a cruise control for off-road driving that allows you to set a speed and the vehicle does the all work to drive over the obstacles. All you have to do is steer.

If you love to embrace the freedom of an adventure-filled life, if you strive to break away from the ordinary and mundane, if you love an open-air driving experience to feel the world around you, and if you love the legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, then the new Gladiator is definitely for you. The only thing left to do is to decide between the P3,890,000 Jeep Gladiator Sport and the P4,790,000 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon.
