Suzuki Philippines Launches All-New Celerio with DualJet 1.0-liter 3-cylinder Engine

On May 7, 2022, Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) launched the all-new Suzuki Celerio 5-door subcompact hatchback. The small yet incredible Celerio features a host of new engine and chassis technology to provide better performance, nimbler handling and improved fuel efficiency while subtle yet powerful exterior design changes encase a more spacious interior and improved occupant safety.

The new Celerio departs from its previous boxy design with a three-dimensional “liquid expression” curved surface that resembles a water surface according to SPH. To emphasize the new body’s width and stability, the rear combination lamps are placed on the shoulder lines while the rear fenders are flared to hide the 15-inch black alloy wheels, which are an inch larger than the previous model.

Subcompact Hatchback with Compact Car Interior

Suzuki’s new subcompact hatchback features interior space that rivals a compact car’s. The interior components, such as the glove compartment, were reshaped to create more room and make ingress and egress easier. The instrument panel include uniquely designed vent grilles at the center and sides while a 6.2-inch infotainment system includes a clear and responsive anti-glare touchscreen, Weblink 2.0, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and audio controls on the steering wheel.

The new Celerio offers lots of room, convenience and safety for its passengers and their valuables. With 295 liters of luggage room, the 60:40 split folding rear seats help produce more space for storing bigger items. Safety is enhanced with dual airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, and rear parking sensors. But the best feature of this new subcompact hatchback can be found under the hood.

2 Fuel Injectors Per Cylinder

The new Celerio is powered by a technologically-advanced 1.0-liter K10C DualJet 3-cylinder engine that places two fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves in each cylinder for finer atomization of the fuel. The resulting complete combustion and cooler engine operation allows Suzuki engineers to design a more compact combustion chamber that mixes the air and fuel better while the chemical energy of the fuel is converted to mechanical energy more efficiently with the higher 11.5:1 compression ratio.

Several friction-reduction technologies, such as roller-rocker valve lifters, cooling oil jets, and reduced hotspots in the combustion chamber further enhance thermal efficiency and allows spark timing to be more aggressive and efficient. A cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system takes hot air from the exhaust and cools it before putting it back into the combustion chamber. The factory claims outputs of 67 horsepower and 89 Newton-meters of torque, a fuel efficiency rating of 28.25 kilometers per liter and low carbon emissions of only 84g/km with K10C DualJet’s engine technology.

An Alphabet Soup of Driving Aids and Safety Features

The technologically-advanced 3-cylinder engine is paired with either a 5-speed stick shift manual transmission or an Auto Gear Shift (AGS) automated manual transmission with Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically operates the gear selector and clutch. Both transmission choices come with Engine Automatic Stop Start (EASS) that automatically turns off the engine when the car is stationary to prevent unnecessary fuel consumption and minimize exhaust emissions and engine noise.

The new Celerio comes standard with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to help the driver stay in directional control during emergency braking, sharp turns and wheel slippage. Hill Hold Control (HHC) to prevent it from rolling backwards on steep slopes while Suzuki’s exclusive Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) structure is designed to absorb and disperse the energy in the event of collision. All these technologies combine together to give this new Suzuki a better ride and a more premium feel.

#LiveBigEveryMoment

“The all-new Celerio has evolved into a compact car that will make people’s life easier, more convenient, and will allow to express one’s personality in an age where diversity is expected”, shared Norihide Takei, SPH’s General Manager for Automobile. “We are confident that the new Celerio will exceed expectations of customers who seek both practicality and individuality.”

Priced at PhP708,000 for the GL M/T and PhP754,000 GL AGS, the all-new Suzuki Celerio is available in Arctic White, Glistening Gray, Fire Red, and Speedy Blue Metallic at seventy-three (73) Suzuki Auto dealerships nationwide.
