Nissan Launches LEAF 3.ZERO and LEAF 3.ZERO e+

Nissan Motor Company, Ltd. confirmed the evolution of the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle by announcing two limited edition versions to broaden the appeal of EVs to more customers. The Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO features an 8-inch infotainment screen with additional connectivity services such as door-to-door navigation and an all-new and improved NissanConnect EV app. The LEAF 3.ZERO features new body colors, new two-tone color combinations, and the 40 kWh battery which gave the LEAF great success in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO e+ Limited Edition will feature an Intelligent Power-enhanced battery with 25% more density and a 55% increase in energy storage capacity. With innovative design and clever engineering, the new 62 kWh battery, which contains 288 cells compared to the 192 found in the 40 kWh one, will deliver a 40% increase in range over the LEAF 3.ZERO and endows the LEAF 3.ZERO e+ with a higher output capable of delivering 160 kW (217 PS) and longer range capabilities with expected driving range of up to 385 kilometers from a single charge. Only 5,000 Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO e+ units will be produced for Europe.

The LEAF 3.ZERO e+ Limited Edition was announced in Japan and presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 at Las Vegas, Nevada. The Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO and the LEAF 3.ZERO e+ Limited Edition uphold the LEAF’s status as the icon of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision. The batteries of both EVs come with the same 8-year/160,000-kilometer Nissan warranty enjoyed by all other versions of the LEAF.

The two Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO models will feature both e-Pedal, which allows the driver to start, accelerate, decelerate and stop using only the accelerator pedal to deliver a seamless, smooth drive and maximum control through enhanced pedal feedback; and ProPILOT, which is an advanced driving assistance technology that allows the car to stop, restart and stay centered in its lane on a single-lane highway during high-speed cruising and low-speed traffic congestion. These Intelligent Driving technologies are transforming the driving experience by reducing driving stress and fatigue, and enhancing driver confidence behind the wheel.

The launch of the Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO and LEAF 3.ZERO e+ follows a strong year for Nissan electric vehicles. The new LEAF sold over 39.000 cars across Europe in 2018 to distinguish it as the world’s best-selling electric vehicle with more than 380,000 units sold globally since the original car was launched in 2010. The LEAF 3.ZERO and LEAF 3.ZERO e+ Limited Edition will be available for online orders starting January 9, 2019. Deliveries of the LEAF 3.ZERO will start from May 2019 while deliveries of the LEAF 3.ZERO e+Limited Edition will start July 2019.

Electric Vehicles and Connected Services of Nissan Europe Director Gareth Dunsmore commented, “The Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO e+ Limited Edition broadens the appeal of the LEAF family, adding more range to an award-winning package. Since we launched the new Nissan LEAF last year, the customer response has been outstanding. We hope the Nissan LEAF 3.ZERO models will help continue this extraordinary growth in 2019.”
