New Cadillac Escalade Named 2021 SUV of the Year in Russia

The new 2021 Cadillac Escalade has just been recognized as the 2021 SUV of the Year in Russia, just a couple of months after it went on sale in that country. General Motors (GM) announced that its iconic luxury SUV was recognized as the best utility in the Full-Size SUV Category at the annual automotive awards ceremony held in Moscow on September 15th.

The fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade arrived in Russia in early July 2021, when it began its commercialization in the local GM dealer network of the Eurasian country. Since then, Cadillac’s full-size SUV has captured the attention of the Russian public and press due to its high level of refinement and technological equipment, making it the most advanced Escalade ever.

“We are delighted that the new Cadillac Escalade has been warmly received in the media and blogging industry”, said Olga Burlakova, Director of Marketing and Public Relations of General Motors Russia. “This is the most reliable, comfortable and most technologically advanced Escalade in the history of the model, which really deserves to be the SUV of the Year. We appreciate the jury’s recognition and are grateful for our victory.”

This is the second year in a row that the Escalade has been recognized as the SUV of the Year in Russia. Notably, the fourth-generation Escalade received the 2020 Off-Road Vehicle of the Year award in the final model year of its generation cycle, beating out prominent models such as the Audi Q7, BMW X7, Lexus GX, and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Large American SUVs are highly valued in the Russian market.

Russia’s SUV of the Year award has been handed out by Club 4×4 Magazine for the last 16 years to recognize the most influential vehicles on the Russian market. The nominees are divided into five groups: SUVs, Pickups, Crossovers, Mono-drive Crossovers, and Electric and Hybrid Crossovers, each of which is further divided into categories based on the size of the vehicle.

This year, the new Cadillac Escalade beat out eight rivals in the category of four-wheel drive utility vehicles weighing more than two tons currently on sale in Russia. Thanks to its high level of refinement, striking design, standard 38-inch curved OLED display and AKG surround sound system, the next-generation Escalade was the favorite of the jury made up of key journalists and bloggers from the Russian automotive industry.
