Enhanced 2022 Mazda MX-5 is Now Available with KPC Optimized Handling Technology

During a virtual online launch held on February 16, 2022, Mazda Philippines debuted the 2022 Mazda MX-5 with a handling upgrade that is engineered to provide a more enjoyable, comfortable and connected driving experience. To enhance the spirit of “Jinba Ittai” or the sense of oneness between the car and driver, the MX-5 will now come equipped with the Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), which is unique and exclusive to this exciting Mazda two-seat sports car.  It provides a more integrated and stable turning posture, even when cornering at high speed, without adding a single gram to the car’s weight.

Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) is unique and exclusive to the 2022 Mazda MX-5.

Mazda engineers designed the MX-5’s rear suspension to generate an anti-lift force that pulls the car’s body down when the brakes are applied. KPC optimizes the MX-5’s driving capabilities by applying a slight braking force on the inner rear wheel under high G-force cornering, which suppresses body roll and stabilizes the posture of both driver and passenger to improve handling and grip. This new stabilization effect delivered by KPC is best noticed in tight corners and rough road surfaces. KPC prevents the car body from lifting during high-speed cornering, thus providing the driver with a greater sense of connection to the road so they can tackle any corner with increased confidence.

KPC can determine turning conditions in real time. It detects the difference in speed between left and right rear wheels, and operates linearly and seamlessly to produce an appropriate posture stabilization effect. And the harder the drive becomes, the sharper the rear end of the MX-5 becomes as it smartly adjusts its turning posture. From a leisurely drive to taking on winding mountain roads or race tracks, the 2022 MX-5 with KPC maximizes its potential to deliver more smiles per mile in an even wider range of driving scenarios.

Additionally, customers can opt for the new Terracotta Nappa Leather seats that are now available in addition to the traditional Black Leather trim that’s already available in the two-seat roadster. The vivid and rich brown hue of the new high-quality, smooth-to-touch leather interiors create a warmer and richer look to the cabin. Performance, Passion and Peace of Mind

The MX-5 is powered by the 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4 Skyactiv-G engine that produces 182 horsepower (184 PS) and 205 Newton-meters of torque and provides the MX-5 with instantaneous throttle response and thrifty fuel consumption for an exciting fun-to-drive experience every time. It’s i-Activsense Safety Technologies, such as Adaptive LED Headlamps, Smart City Brake Support and Lane Departure Warning, that are available in the top-spec MX-5, provide an extra measure of safe and protection.

As with every available Mazda, all 2022 MX-5s are covered by Mazda Philippines’ 5-Year Free Service Plan. It covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals, for up to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. Mazda customers will enjoy the peace of mind of not having to worry about PMS budgeting and cost inflation concerns during the course of their ownership experience. And with its 3-Year Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty, owning an MX-5 continues to be an enriching and fulfilling experience.

“With over close to 1,000 examples sold by our distributorship since 2014, the Mazda MX-5 continues to be a popular and highly regarded sports car in the Philippines”, stated Steven Tan. “Mazda’s lightweight, open-top formula as seen on the MX-5 has consistently been realized for more than 30 years. But we believe there is still room to involve the driver even more and enhance the emotional bond with his car. That is why we are continuing to elevate this already unique driving experience with the introduction of new features and owner-initiated options that will make future MX-5 owners even happier and fulfilled.”
