SAIC Motor Philippines Announces Leadership Transition: Wei Wei Zhang Appointed as New President

SAIC Motor Philippines Inc. (SMPI), the official distributor of MG vehicles in the Philippines, has announced a significant leadership transition as part of its continued strategic growth in the region. Felix Jiang, the pioneering President of SMPI, will be reassigned to MG Australia, while Wei Wei Zhang takes on the role of President of MG Philippines.

Over the past three years, Felix Jiang has played a pivotal role in establishing MG as a formidable force in the Philippine automotive market. Under his leadership, MG Philippines achieved record-breaking sales in 2024 and secured segment leadership in the highly competitive 1.5L sedan category. The brand also maintained its strong position as a top-10 automotive marque in the country.

During his tenure, MG Philippines introduced its most comprehensive product portfolio to date—spanning petrol and diesel internal combustion engines, hybrid models, and fully electric vehicles—underscoring the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility. Mr. Jiang’s leadership was marked by accelerated growth, impactful product launches, and a significantly strengthened nationwide dealer network.

Taking the helm is Wei Wei Zhang, who brings extensive regional and strategic expertise to MG Philippines. Zhang previously served as President of MG Indonesia and later joined SAIC Motor’s ASEAN Partner Group at its Shanghai headquarters, where he oversaw operations and strategy across all ASEAN markets. His deep understanding of Southeast Asia’s automotive landscape positions him well to build on MG Philippines’ strong momentum.
