IRS Eastern Debuts Carrier Pulsor 6 eCool 100% Full Electric Refrigeration System

IRS Eastern, Inc., the leading truck and trailer refrigeration company in the Philippines and the exclusive distributor of Carrier truck refrigeration equipment, debuted the Carrier Pulsor 6 eCool new energy vehicle (NEV) refrigerated truck on June 17, 2025 at ballroom of the Park Inn by Radisson in the SM City North EDSA complex. Refrigerating a CIMC polyurethane insulated box mounted on a Weichai LandKing 7H320 PRO new energy light truck (NEV-LCV), the Pulsor 6 eCool demonstrated its 100% full electric refrigeration system that will benefit the local cold chain transportation sector.

The cold chain industry is essential to Filipinos as the temperature-controlled supply chain management of perishable goods, ensuring products like food, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive items maintain their quality and safety from production to consumption, or as IRS Eastern refers to as “From Farm to Fork”. The cold chain stages include storage, transportation and distribution with each stage maintaining specific temperature requirements. Refrigerated trucks represent a vital part of cold chain logistics, transporting goods such as fresh produce, seafood, meat, dairy products, pharmaceuticals, flowers, artwork, and even chemicals.

Pulsor 6 eCool Performance & Features

The all-electric Carrier Pulsor 6 eCool features a cooling capacity between 3,600 watts (-20°C / 30°C) and 5,600 watts (0°C / 30°C); a heating capacity of 3,000 watts (12°C / 15°C); and an ambient temperature of -15°C~53°C (cooling) and -30°C~50°C (heating). It can provide an air flow of 2,200 cubic meters per hour to an insulated body (box) with a volume of between 14 and 23 cubic meters at an ambient temperature between -20°C and 40°C. It also has a faster pull-down speed from 30°C to 0°C within 20 minutes, and from 30°C to -18°C in just 50 minutes, which is 21% to 31% faster than its competitors.

The Pulsor 6 eCool features multiple cooling modesStrong / Standard / Silent / Eco – for different applications. Its patented inverter cooling design includes specially-designed fins with bypass air to cool it without using additional fans to reduce power consumption while its MCHE condenser improves condensation and lower refrigerant charge. Its twin-rotor variable-speed compressor with enhanced vapor injection technology and brushless variable fan makes the Pulsor 6 eCool efficient, reliable and economical to operate in the long run.

The all-aluminum frame design of the Pulsar 6 eCool features an enhanced aluminum structure for the main load-bearing part of the frame, an all-aluminum integrated drier-receiver, and a monoblock construction to bring the weight down to just 99 kilograms. Its eCool Intelligent Algorithm features temperature compensation, variable frequency drive and real-time adjustment to accurately control temperature fluctuations of up to ±1°C and an average temperature fluctuation of ±0.5°C at 6 points in an empty box.

The inclined fan deck design of the Pulsor 6 eCool features an ultra-thin 222-millimeter evaporator that does not intrude into the loading space to promote improved air flow and maximize cargo capacity. Best of all, its Intellitrix controller makes it simple and easy to control, maintain and monitor the temperature inside the refrigerator box/body while the LYNX Fleet Service offers remote control and monitoring of the refrigerated van fleet while the vehicles are on the road on their delivery routes, ensuring the excellent condition of the goods inside the reefers.

To demonstrate the capabilities of the Carrier Pulsor 6 eCool, IRS Eastern installed the refrigeration unit in a CIMC polyurethane insulated box mounted on a Weichai LandKing 7H320 PRO new energy light truck. A centrally-balanced 132 kilowatt-hour Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack powers a 120 kW (161 hp) permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and offers a driving range of more than 300 kilometers on a single charge. With more than 300 Nm of torque, this refrigerated van is more than capable of delivering its temperature-sensitive goods efficiently and reliably.

One of the hurdles that the cold chain logistics has to overcome when it switches to fully-electric refrigerator vans is the battery charging infrastructure since majority of the cold chain fleet are on duty for almost 24 hours. There were suggestions that cold storage facilities and warehouses should install EV Charging Stations (EVCS) that will allow the electric trucks to be charged while loading or unloading the goods. The LYNX Fleet Service can be linked to help manage the battery charging to ensure the electric trucks are always on the go and the refrigerated box are always operating at optimal efficiency.

The Department of Energy (DOE) spearheads the thrust to establish more EVCS and strengthen the charging infrastructure for electrified cold chain logistics to proliferate.

Cold Chain Association of the Philippines (CCAP) Director and IRS Eastern Chairman & CEO Roderick Fulgencio and Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) President Edmund Araga share their thoughts about the electrification of the cold chain transport sector.

With more than 150 government-accredited cold storage warehouses around the country, a cold storage capacity utilization between 70% to 90% from June to September and 100% in the peak months of October to December, and an estimated growth in demand for cold storage between 8% to 15% in the next 5 years, the cold chain logistics is on the verge of electrification to minimize harmful carbon emissions, increase efficiency, and help protect the environment. With the Pulsor 6 eCool, IRS Eastern and Carrier have demonstrated that they are leading the way.
