Chevron sponsored the 12th AmCham ScholaRun, which funds Filipino scholars’ dreams, one step at a time.
The 12th AmCham ScholaRun, sponsored by Chevron as a co-presenter and supporter, exemplifies the company’s dedication to empowering Filipino youth through education. Organized annually by the American Chamber Foundation Philippines, Inc., the fun run aims to raise funds for disadvantaged Filipino students’ schooling and inspire community involvement.

Chevron has proudly stood as co-presenter for 12 consecutive years, continuously supporting the AmCham Foundation’s mission
This year, the event drew 3,797 participants, including a large delegation of 216 employees from Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) and Chevron Holdings Inc.—Global Business Services (CHI-GBS). Despite the early start, Chevron employees showcased their enthusiasm and athleticism, with some earning top awards—Raymond Dela Cruz and Ricardo Macaisa finished first and second, respectively, in the men’s 15-kilometer race.

CPI General Manager and Country Chairman Bon Tangmanuswong joined his first ScholaRun, completing a 10-km run around Intramuros.
For Chevron’s newly appointed General Manager and Country Chairman, Pongtorn “Bon” Tangmanuswong, the event was especially meaningful. He shared that participating in his first ScholaRun allowed him to bond with his team and even turn the race into a family affair with his wife and children. Reflecting on Chevron’s involvement, Tangmanuswong emphasized the company’s commitment to community service and to inspiring its employees and partners to make a difference.
Ricardo Macaisa, a Chevron employee for nearly 25 years, also expressed the significance of the run, highlighting how the event supports educational funding in the Philippines. Having loved ones who didn’t finish their education, Macaisa sees the ScholaRun as more than just a race—it’s a way to help build a better future for Filipino students and the country.

Ricardo Macaisa and Raymond Dela Cruz secured second and first place, respectively, in the men’s 15-kilometer category.
Macaisa said, “As you know, sa Pilipinas, kulang na kulang tayo sa funding. Nakikita ko ito dahil mayroon akong mga kamag-anak na hindi nakapagtapos ng kanilang edukasyon. Kaya maganda ang epekto ng ScholaRun dahil isa itong paraan para tumulong ang Chevron sa mga scholar natin. Akala ng iba na takbo lang ito, but this race is not just a run—it’s a run to help your country. (As you know, in the Philippines, we lack the funding for education. This hits close to home because I have loved ones who did not finish their schooling. That’s why the ScholaRun has had such a great impact, because Chevron gets help for our scholars. Other people may think that this is just a run, but it’s not—it’s a run to help your country.) ”
The alliance between Chevron and AmCham reinforces the importance of corporate social responsibility. AmCham Foundation President Edwin Feist acknowledged Chevron’s two-decade-long support for educational initiatives and expressed gratitude for their partnership. He pointed out that the funds raised through the ScholaRun help address the challenges of educational costs and resource shortages faced by Filipino students.
Chevron’s commitment to education extends beyond the run. The company has partnered with AmCham on programs such as mechanic training for graduates from various Don Bosco institutions, aimed at equipping young Filipinos with skills for better livelihoods.
Held at the historic Plaza Moriones in Intramuros, Manila, this year’s event adopted the theme “Fiesta of Hope: Funding Dreams, One Step at a Time,” symbolizing the vibrant spirit of community and hope. Chevron pledges to continue its partnerships and initiatives to empower more Filipino students through education.
