ACMobility has taken a significant step forward in expanding the country’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with the inauguration of its newest charging station in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte—the northernmost point in the Philippines. Strategically located at the Agua Grande Mini Hydro Power Plant in Barangay Panziann, this station marks a milestone in bringing EV charging accessibility closer to remote and underserved communities.

Addressing Range Anxiety for Northern Travelers

Range anxiety remains one of the top concerns for current and prospective EV owners. Recognizing this, ACMobility’s new station aims to ease apprehensions by providing reliable charging options for both local residents and travelers exploring the northern regions of Luzon. The facility features two high-capacity DC fast charge points, designed to deliver quick and efficient charging services, with operational hours from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.

A Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Energy

This pioneering project is a collaborative effort involving key industry players. ACMobility partnered with the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (INEC), a major power distribution utility, ensuring seamless energy delivery. The station is powered by sustainable energy sources supplied by Masinloc Power Partners Co. Ltd. (MPPCL) and GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD), reinforcing the commitment to environmentally friendly solutions. According to Carla Buencamino, ACMobility’s Head of Mobility Infrastructure,ACMobility has always believed in the power of partnerships. Working with INEC on this endeavor allows us to provide convenient and sustainable mobility solutions to more Filipinos. As this new station opens doors for many communities in the far north, it brings the country one step closer to a more connected and electrified future”

A Key Milestone in the Philippine EV Infrastructure Network

The Pagudpud station is a crucial addition to ACMobility’s broader vision—the Philippine EV Spine. This ambitious initiative aims to develop an extensive, country-wide EV charging ecosystem linking Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Currently, the network comprises 96 locations with 226 charge points nationwide. Moreover, an additional 10 sites are slated to go live this June, with plans to deploy over 700 charge points across the Philippines by year’s end.

Looking Ahead

ACMobility’s expansion efforts reflect its dedication to building an inclusive and sustainable transportation infrastructure, making EV travel more accessible across the archipelago. With each new station, the Philippines moves closer to a future where electric mobility is the norm, reducing carbon emissions and fostering energy independence.
